Nicotine shot mixing guide

In the UK it is now illegal to sell nicotine over 18mg in strength, or 10ml in size. Nic shots (nicotine shots), are the new legal way of buying nicotine for adding to shortfill eliquids or DIY mixes. Nic shots are usually 18mg in nicotine strength and are unflavoured.

The main advantage of using 18mg nic shots is that achieving the popular eliquid strengths of 3, 6 ,9 or 12mg is fairly simple.

An easy way of thinking about it is this:

If half of your final mix is 18mg nic shots, then you have halved the nic shots’ strength and have a final mix of 9mg (18mg divided by 2).

If a quarter of your final mix is an 18mg nicshot, then you have quartered the nicshot’s strength and have a final mix of 3mg (18mg divided by 4).

And so on.

In practise, f you start with a 60ml Bottle,  it works like this:

    • To make a 60ml bottle of 3mg E-Liquid –  One 18mg nicshot is needed
    • To make a 60ml bottle of 6mg E-Liquid – Two 18mg nicshots are needed.
    • To make a 60ml bottle of 9mg E-Liquid – Three 18mg nicshots are needed.
    • To make a 60ml bottle of 12mg E-Liquid – Four 18mg nicshots are needed.

Nicshots come in a variety of PG/VG ratios – but if you are unsure, for adding to Shortfills just stick to 70/30 for now.
