How Often Should I Change My Clearomiser or Coil?
There isn’t a set period of time that clearomisers or coils need replacing in. The general rule is, if it’s still working it’s fine.
You’ll know you need a new clearomiser (in a disposable model) or coil (in a rebuildable model) when you start getting a nasty burnt taste or a lot of leaking.
There is a lot of luck involved in how long a clearomiser or coil lasts. We generally expect them to last for 1-2 weeks on average. However, you might have one that lasts only a couple of days and another that lasts for several weeks.
The following tips can help extend the lifespan of your clearomisers and coils:
- When you first fill up a new clearomiser or replace a coil give the liquid a few minutes to soak into the wick, so that you aren’t burning it dry.
- Try not to hold the power button on you for longer than you need to.
- Top up your clearomiser regularly, ensuring that the wick always has plenty of liquid to soak in.
- If you feel your clearomiser/tank getting warm it’s a good indicator that the coils is being overworked and could do with a rest.
